Pulga is a small village in Parvati valley of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. This village has recently become hub for backpackers across India. I have recently got number of mails where people ask me to write something on How to reach Pulga and what all things can be done around the village.
Tosh and Pulga are two extreme villages of Parvati valley. These two villages are also base point to the number of treks like Buni Buni trek, Kheerganga trek and many more.
Pulga
Parvati valley in Himachal Pradesh is referred to as one of the most beautiful valley in India and what makes it more beautiful are these small and secluded villages. These villages long remained in peace until the advent of social media. After the advent everything changed, these villages became top tourist destinations in North India.
Now most of the people in the villages are dependent on tourism as there source of income. There are number of cheap home-stays, cafes and hotels in Pulga.
Tosh or Pulga ?
One most frequent question which I get in my mail is that ” Which is better place to stay Tosh or Pulga?” so the simple answer to this question is that both the villages are among the most beautiful villages of Parvati valley. So you can either stay in Tosh or in Pulga it doesn’t matter. These two villages are perfect place to experience the real culture of pahadi people and how they live.
How to Reach Pulga Village From Kasol
- Most of the travelers start their journey from Delhi. So I am going to tell you how can a person reach Pulga village from Delhi
- Volvo buses are the best option to travel from Delhi to Bhuntar which start from Kashmiri Gate or Majnu ka tila in Delhi to Manali in Himachal Pradesh
- Don’t head towards Manali in the Volvo. Get down in the place named as Bhuntar ( Junction point: From where one way goes to Manali and other towards Parvati valley). Now from Bhuntar you need to head towards Kasol.
- If you are Budget traveler then you can take a bus from Bhuntar to Kasol which run at regular interval one after another or you can take shared cab, which is also very cheap and comfortable way to reach Pulga.
- But if you are an adventurous person then you can rent a bike from Bhuntar to commute in the valley. Bike rental call 6230586604 or can even book a taxi by calling on this number. This above number is of thakur bhai who runs a travel agency in Bhuntar and is one of the most trusted person whom I know in Kullu-Manali.
- After Kasol you need to head toward Manikaran and then toward Barsheni and then finally toward your destination Pulga. Once you reach Barsheni, you will spot a dam and the way right to the dam leads to Pulga village and the way left of Dam will lead to Tosh village.
- Roads from Bhuntar to Manikaran are metaled but are in fair condition.
- Roads from Manikaran to Barsheni are not in that good condition but still good enough to drive a four-wheeler or bike till Barsheni.
- Barsheni is a base point from where one way goes toward Tosh village and other towards Pulga.
- Vehicles do reach till the end but it entirely depends on your driving skills.
- Best options to travel in Parvati valley is by the bikes or taxi services. Bus services are also available but the timing of buses are very irregular. You need to wait very long in order to commute in the buses.

Things to do around Pulga
Manikaran
Manikaran is a holy destination in the Parvati valley of Himachal Pradesh along the banks of river Parvati. This place lies at an distance of 34km from Bhuntar (nearest airport) and lies at distance of 4km from Kasol which is also referred to as mini Israel. Manikaran is holy center for both Hindus as well as Sikhs. The legendary tales states that once the wife of lord Shiva, Parvati dropped her earings in the spring of Manikaran which led to the uprising of hot water from the place.
On the other hand Sikhs believe that the third Udasi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji came to this place in 1574 with his disciples. After some time one of his disciple felt hungry. So they went to collect food but the only problem was that there was no fire to cook. Then Guru Nanak lifted the stone in Manikaran and the spring of hot water came out of the earth Surface. So if you are planning a trip to Pulga village then you surely need to visit Manikaran

Malana
it is a village which lies in close proximity to Kasol and Manikaran everyone knows why it is so famous. Yes definitely it’s the immpecable beauty and for some weird rules and regulations which this village follows. Kasol has always been a destination for the nature lovers. Who want to enjoy their life in the midst of beauty offered by nature. Parvati valley offers you that which is difficult to find anywhere in the entire country and that makes this place renowned throughout the world. Trekking route from Kasol to chalaal is quite busy due to some above mentioned things and hence its also considered heaven. So if you are planning a trip to Pulga village the you can’t skip this village.
Kheerganga
it is a difficult trek of 13 Kms uphill from Barshaini. To reach Barshani you need to go through Manikaran,On your way to kheerganga you will cross many bridges and waterfalls. The trek is very famous for it’s rawness and the hot water springs. People travel to Kheerganga as it has a temple of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and the holy hot water springs are believed to have healing properties. The panaromic view of the surroundings and the sky from Kheerganga is an absolute delight to the eyes. This is among the must visit treks in Parvati valley especially when you are planning to visit Pulga village.

Kasol
It is a beautiful as well as peaceful village located at a distance of 32kmfrom Bhuntar (nearest airport) in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. This village lies adjacent to gurgling Parvati river where you can sit along the river and enjoy the tranquillity and peace offered by nature. The specialty of the place lies in the trekking routes to various places like Malana, Chalaal, Kheerganga etc and you can definitely visit Manikaran which is at a distance of 4km from Kasol. Kasol is abode for the trekkers, backpackers and for those who cannot control their adrenaline rush. The cafés in the area offer you world-class cuisines which will definitely make your mouth water.
Tosh
Tosh and Pulga are basically 2 sides of same coin. once you reach Barsheni, you will spot a Dam, to the right of Dam is going to be the way for Pulga village and to left is going to be the way for Tosh village. This village is one of the most beautiful village after Kasol in Parvati valley. If you guys are planning a trip to Pulga then Tosh should always be on your wish list.
Snow-capped peaks, lush green landscapes and the freezing temperature are some of the basic characteristics of village Tosh.
Tosh is small village in Parvati valley and is located at a distance of 21 Km from Kasol. This village has recently become a hub for backpackers. Who come flocking here in search of parties or cheap accommodation. Tosh is not that expensive as compare to Kasol.
The guest houses and hotels are present at the entrance and far end of the village. Food in the village is served in the local cafes and stalls. Pizza, omelets, toast are few of the easily accessible things in the village. Maggie can also be another great option for a budget bag packer.
