Jibhi is often called as Himachal’s best kept secret. This town is so beautiful that one has to rub his or her eyes to believe it actually exists. Recently I have got number of mails. In which people ask me ” How to reach Jibhi from Delhi and what all things they can do around Jibhi.
Jibhi is located at a distance of 494 kilometers from Delhi in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Small secluded houses surrounded by the lush green deodar trees, which are further surrounded by the majestic mountains. In the recent times due to the social media this place has garnered a lot of popularity. This place has now turned into the backpackers and trekkers destination.
One can plan various treks around Jibhi like the famous Serolsar lake trek, Choi waterfall or the Cheni Kothi trek. These treks are of beginers level hence the person of any age group can easily accomplish these treks.
How to reach Jibhi
People travel to Jibhi from various places. Some travel from Shimla, some from Delhi and some from Punjab. So I will try to explain each and every way of accessing this beautfiul hamlet in the Himalayas from any part of the country.
Delhi is place which everyone has to reach if planning trip to north India. Its the main gateway to access Himachal or Uttarakhand. So after you reach Delhi you have multiple ways to access Jibhi.
First Method:
- Take a metro to Kashmere gate and then get a rickshaw to Majnu ka Teela. Majnu ka Teela is a place from where you can get a Volvo bus to Manali or Kullu.
- In order to travel to Jibhi you need to get down at a place called Aut ( before the tunnel). Aut is a small town which lies at a distance of 467km from Delhi. Aut will come one hour before Bhuntar.
- From Aut you can either go for Cab services or can even go for local buses to reach Jibhi.
Another option of traveling to Jibhi is by the rented bikes which you can rent by calling on 8988265439. This number is of Thakur bhai, my most trusted tour guide in the region. He also runs a travel agency and knows the place like nobody does. You can also call this guy to plan a complete trip itinerary as he is literally expert in this.
So this was the first method to reach Jibhi from Delhi.
Second method:
- The other option to reach Jibhi is by the Delhi>Shima>Luhri>Jalori pass>Jibhi
- This route can be planned if you are first looking to go for Shimla or if you are directly planning a trip to Jibhii from Shimla.
- You can take a volvo bus to Shimla from Delhi from majnu ka teela or Kashmere gate.
- 7-8 hours of journey will land you up in Shimla. From there you have to travel by Luhri>Jalori pass> Shoja>Jibhi.
So these were the most common method of reaching Jibhi from Delhi or Shimla. But what if you are travelling from Amritsar or Punjab.
- So if you are planning a trip to Jibhi From Punjab. You have to travel from Pathankot, Kangra, Palampur, Mandi. After reaching mandi you have to travel on Kullu Manali national highway. From Aut you have to travel towards Banjar and then finally Jibhi.
Reach Jibhi from Delhi or Chandigarh by air
If you want to travel to Jibhi by air then the nearest airport is the Bhuntar airport. This airport is located at a distance of 51 km from Jibhi. There are two different flights in order to reach Bhuntar, One is the Delhi to Bhuntar and other one is Chandigarh to Bhuntar.
you can choose either of them according to your location and itinerary.

Shringa Rishi Temple
Shringa Rishi is temple situated in a village called Baggi of Banjar valley, at a distance of 6km from Jibhi. This temple is known for its flawless architectural work and is home to a chief deity of Banjar valley. It is situated 4km inside, from main highway to Jibhi and holds a great religious importance to the localities.
Dedicated to the rishi Shringa who was son of Rishi Vibhandak. This temple is only accessible during the months of April to November and rest of the year it is inaccessible due to thick snow canopied over the valley. The road to Shringa Rishi is completely motarble or one can even stop the vehicle near the base and can trek for 15 minutes to reach this temple. So if you ask me I would suggest you to definitely visit this amazing place on your next trip to Jibhi.
Serolsar Lake
Serolsar lake is one of the most beautiful lake situated in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. This lake is situated in the center of dense forest of jalori pass and is among the top places to visit around Jibhi. I have visited this lake number of times and believe me guys its the best place to enjoy nature’s peace. In order to reach this magnificent lake one need to start trekking from the road itself near the temple. Before starting your trek keep yourself equipped with plenty of water and some snacks because you will not get any other shop on your way.
The trek is about 1.5 hours from jalori pass to Serolsar lake. Camping can also be a great idea if you love camping but for that you need to carry all your equipment. The trek to the lake is full of beautiful and huge trees casting their shadow on the dry leaves adding to the contrast of the nature. So if you are planning a trip to Jibhi then trek to serolsar lake should be among the most important things to do around Jibhi
Chehni Kothi
Just few minutes of trekking from Shringa Rishi temple you are going to reach this amazing place called Chehni Kothi. You must be thinking that what is so special about the place? Chehni Kothi host the towering temples of Kullu valley. These structures were initially made as a defensive structures but also acted as the storage facility for the grains etc. The tower are around 45 meter tall adding to the charm of the place. It is believed that these towers are the highest standing structures in the entire western Himalayas. So if you are planning a trip to Jibhi then, never ever skip this place from your wish list.
Tirthan Valley
Like most of the valleys in Himachal Pradesh, Tirthan is also named after the river which flows through it. One of the key tributary of Beas River, Tirthan River rises from the bitter-cold glacial lake of Hanskund peak (4800 meters) set in the interior of Great Himalayan National Park in the south-east of Kullu. River flows through a V-shaped valley and opens up fairly wide in its lower down as it approaches Beas. On Standard tourist maps, Tirthan valley stretches from Banjar to Bathad, dotted with number of villages (Sai Ropa, Nagini, Gushaini etc) on the river bank. The entire valley is verdant green with alpine grooves and deciduous forest. Situated 8 km before the entrance of Great Himalayan National park, Gushaini is the most preferred stay option. So if you are planning a trip to Jibhi never skip Tirthan valley from your wish list.
Great Himalayan National Park
The Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area (GHNPCA) as a Natural Site was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List during the session of the 38th World Heritage Committee in Doha, the State of Qatar, on 23rd June 2014.
The inscription confirms Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area’s Outstanding Universal Value as a site containing the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of Western Himalayan biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation.
The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) is located in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh, India. Initially constituted in 1984, GHNP was formally declared a National Park in 1999, covering an area of 754.4 sq kms. In 1994, two major changes were made in land use around the Park. A buffer zone of 5 km from the Park’s western boundary, covering 265.6 sq km. and including 2,300 households in 160 villages, was delineated as an Ecozone. So if you want to spot some animals or wildlife during your trip to Jibhi then Great Himalayan National Park should always be on your wish-list.
