I am not a preacher, I am just a wanderer who love Himalayas. Recently in the past few years Kasol have become a party spot for the youth who love raves, trance, Nature, Mountains, trekking and many more things. Basically its among the top destinations in India to get high and feel the real presence of Nature.
Kasol is one such place for me about which I feel the more I see the less I know. Hence I have written number of posts on this place but recently the last visit of mine was something which really disappointed me. I was really stunned to see the place.
I am not an environmentalist, nor from the NGT but I am just a traveler who loves traveling and I hope you guys are the same. If talking about the truth..
Kasol is an Ideal place to get high, Enjoying the Rave parties chilling, smoking, weeding, rolling joints but I believe that its not an Ideal place to be treated as private bin. I have seen people throwing cigarettes , Packets of chips along with the butt of Joint right there which is not correct guys.
Iam a smoker too guys and believe me I have nothing to do with your smoking and rolling joints but all I care about is nature. I don’t want this place to to be ruined so much that we loose it forever.
If talking about the stream that flows through Kasol has become a kind of dumping ground for riverside café’s. We cant blame all the tourists for the garbage disposal. Local people too have to be careful about the dumping of waste.
Parvati valley has lot to offer, the amazing scenic view is something which adds five star to your photography but at what cost? Climbing up the rocks, sitting their throwing your waste into the river is something which can never to appreciated guys.
Loud Music
I hope everyone is aware that noise also lies under the category of pollution. Getting high is something which I love but I never love disturbing the ecology. Playing loud music after you get high is something which should be avoided. If you are traveling to Kasol I believe that you are looking for something raw then why to carry these portable speakers if you still need them keep them low. You are violently attacking the quite of the mountains and its creatures. The animals are innocent why the animals have to pay the price of human development.
Think logically who would like if someone came to your home and blasted random electronic sounds.
Relatively Around
Challal is among the top visited places in Kasol or we can say that it’s the hosting ground of all the rave parties in the valley. Believe me guys the scenario is just the same you could spot huge piles of waste.
What you can do:
- Take a garbage bag with you. Bring back your litter. The metropolitan cities are much more capable of processing that garbage than small mountain villages.
- Please don’t use portable speakers in the open or on a trail. Use headphones instead. In your hotel at a decent volume, it is still fine.
- Refrain from buying more than one or two plastic bottles. You can get them re-filled from any dhaba or a home on your way. And no, river water won’t kill you.
- Try not to take your car to places where public transport is in abundance. Not adding to the current load of vehicles really helps. And a bus journey is a road trip too, you know.
Just do not litter. Not in river. Not on the trail. Not even out of the bus. Not ANYWHERE!
