Himachal Pradesh is known as heaven on earth because of its picturesque beauty and amazing surroundings. It is mountainous state with beautiful landscapes and wide valleys. Its snow fed rivers, snow covered mountain peaks, serene lakes, Prehistoric temples and beautiful Glaciers attract people from all over the world.
The Enchanting State of Himachal Pradesh is also blessed with beautiful waterfalls. Waterfalls are my favorite places to spend time when I need peace.The sight of wild and breath taking waterfalls always fill my heart with joy, wonder and excitement. Waterfalls always capture our spirit in wild and romantic way. Waterfalls are part of nature’s beauty, it has universal appeal. This love of beauty drives human desire to visit these falls.
Let’s explore some spectacular waterfalls which is located in different parts of beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh which is worth visiting. Some of these waterfalls are seasonal and at their prime only during Monsoons and others are filled with water throughout the year and you can visit them at any time.
1.Jogini Falls
Jogini Waterfall is a sacred waterfall in Manali. It belongs to village Goddess Jogini. This place is known as Shakti Peeth because of female power. Below the fall there is small Shrine and below that is main Shrine. Jogini falls is about 1 hour from Vashist village and is located in Kullu valley at a distance of 4 km from Vashisht temple.Its a beautiful place to explore. You can begin trek after visiting Vashisht temple.
The trekking is in itself a pleasant experience.The trek passes through a narrow lane adjacent to Vashisht temple and goes through apple orchards, tall pine trees and small water streams. Its a must visit place if you are in Manali. A gentle walk will take 30 minutes to reach the base of waterfall if you enroute your way from the national highway.
2 Jana Falls

Jana Falls is one of the hidden gem of Manali. It is famous for its amazing views and stunning beauty. Jana falls is located at Jana village at a distance of 35 km from Manali. It is around 12 kms from Naggar. It is one of the highest altitude place near Manali, untouched and full of natural beauty. The fall is surrounded all over by Deodar and Pine trees, apple orchards and snow covered mountains. Its heaven for lovers of photography .You can click here beautiful pictures to cherish life long memories. The amazing falls with beautiful background is perfect for taking memorable pictures.
Another specialty of this location is tasty and yummy food which you can find in local dhabas situated around the place. Must try dishes are Sidhu (kind of momos) and maggie. It is unique place to enjoy waterfalls with extremely tasty lunch. The road is mot-arable, so you can take your car there. You can also enjoy the drive with pleasant locations.
3.Rahala falls
Rahala fall is situated near Manali. It is located 16 km from Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass. This amazing fall is part of melting Glaciers. The stunning views combined with sound of gushing water makes Rahal falls an ideal picnic spot. The fall is surrounded by dense forests of Deodar and Birch trees.
Its a natural waterfall and water falls with high speed. Water flows through the solid deposits of ice all around. So,if you are on the way to Rohtang Pass ,you can take a small halt here and have some funtime in these amazing fall. Its a must recommended place. Its easily accessible by own vehicle or taxi. The best time to visit the waterfall is between the months of march and November.
4.Chadwick fall

Chadwick fall is a amazing waterfall situated near Shimla. Its about 7 km away from Shimla near Summerhill. At an altitude of 1,586meters, the falling water forms a deep gorge. It is worth visiting during Monsoons or after the monsoons from July to October. This waterfall is originally named as “ Chidku Jhaar. “Chidku means sparrow and jhar means water. The waterfall is so high that only a sparrow or bird can reach its top. But Britishers are not able to pronounce it and it was renamed as Chadwick falls.
There is also a folklore about this fall telling how a demon was imprisoned by the local Gods, behind the big rocks after the villagers prayed to these Gods to save them from the nuisance of this demon. The villagers believe that water flows down from the mouth of demon. Trekking towards Chadwick falls covered with dense forests is a awesome experience.
5. Bhagsunag Falls
Bhagsunag fall is a spectacular waterfall situated near Dharmashala town. It is 11 kms away from Dharmashala. Bhagsu fall houses the famous Bhagsunath temple dedicated to lord Shiva and snake God. The Bhagsu temple is located at the beautiful Bhagsu village. Bhagsunag temple is located 2 km from McLeodganj.
You can take Auto from Mcleodganj at 50 Rs. The water here is pure and crystal clear but is suggested to visit this place in monsoons. You will be disappointed if you come here in summers because there is not enough water here in summer. In monsoons the scenic beauty around this place is quite a visual treat.
6.Rozy falls in Manali
Rozy falls is one of the marvelous falls of Manali. This fall is on the way to Rohtang pass. Its nice to spend some quite time here on your way to Rohtang Pass. Its chilling breeze gives an awesome experience. It is surrounded all over by tall deodar trees, forested mountains and green valleys making this place more attractive and charming. Behind the waterfall there is also a huge cave where you can spend some relaxed moments.
There are limited options of food here except some bhelpuri stalls, so it’s better to bring packed food when you visit this place. It’s a perfect place to spend some quality time with family in lap of beautiful nature. It’s heaven for nature lovers.

7.Thala waterfall Bharmour
Thala waterfall is a beautiful fall located very close to Bharmour. It is located at distance of 9 km from Bharmour.This waterfall always have plenty of water throughout the year. So you can visit this fall at any time because of abundance of water. It is easily accessible by taxi and is only at distance of 1oo metres from Thala bridge. This waterfall is ideal place to enjoy picnic with friends and family. There are another two waterfalls only 1 km from Thala waterfall known as Choo Chhundu waterfall and Ghared waterfall.

8. Palani falls
Kullu known as “Valley of Gods “ is famous hill station. The town is on the banks of river Beas. Palani waterfall is located near Kullu in the district of Himachal Pradesh. This spectacular waterfall attracts tourists from all over the world. Palani waterfall is 6 km away from Bijli Mahadev, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Palani fall is known for its scenic beauty and exotic views. The fresh greenery around this place is very soothing and refreshing to the mind and soul. A fair is held here during the month of March every year, which attracts large number of tourists to this place. At that time a dip in the Palani water is considered as sacred. You can reach to this place either by Bus or car.
9. Hadsar waterfall
Bharmour is one of the important city of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. Bharmour is often referred as land of Shiva because of belief that Lord Shiva resides at Manimahesh, which is located in this area. It is also famous due to its natural beauty of snow covered mountains and temples. The beautiful Hadsar waterfall is located at distance of 7 km from Sathali and 13 km from Bharmour. It is a great waterfall. Chaurasi temple is located in the centre of Bharmour town and it holds immense Religious impact.
