Kasol tourism has boosted at an exponential rate in the past few years leaving behind number of questions. Some believe its all due to the nature and some believe the other left aspects are the reasons. Drug consumption in Parvati valley is one of the major factor which has forced High court to deliver such orders.
The High court directed The Deputy Commissioner of Kullu to snap off the power and water connections from the hotel which were illegally operating in Kasol without the permission of Tourism department.
In this attempt nearly 44 out 64 hotels running in Kasol were shut down. The hotels were not only sealed but by the orders of High court water as well as electricity connections were cut down.
The court passed these directions after perusing the report filed by the Joint Inspection Committee. Its report says out of 60 hotels in Kasol, 44 are neither having permission from the Tourism Department, nor do they have any consent to operate in terms of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. – Tribune
What’s The Issue
The main concern of High court is the illegal trade and use of drugs and the second main concern is the encroachment of local people on the forest land for construction of illegal camping site. These things not only harm nature but also is major factor for pollution in Kasol.
The Court had directed the Superintendent of Police, Kullu, as well as Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh, on October 25 to constitute a Joint Task Force to raid all restaurants, hotels and dhabas in and around Kasol and Malana to stop illegal activities. The force was also directed to visit Malana village and ensure complete eradication of contraband and take action against people indulging in illegal trade of contraband’s.
The only thing which I can analyse is that if these things will not stop soon. Kasol will surely become the lost land and no one will remember it’s name. So I believe it’s high time to take this matter as a major topic of concern so that we can enjoy the beauty or Parvati Valley and Kasol forever.
