Chandratal lake (Spiti valley)

Chandratal lake is located at an altitude of 4250mtrs or 14000ft and lies at a distance of 140 kms from Manali. Kheerganga is situated at an altitude of 2960m approximately. 12km trek to Kheerganga falls under the easy category of difficulty level, half of which is normal walk till Rudranaag and another half is a mild climb, covered with pine trees which opens to the meadows of kheerganga. It is believed that in Satyug with Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati’s grace kheer emerged out of ground and flowed into the valley, that’s why it’s called Kheerganga and with Parshuram’s help it was turned into water because they knew that people of kalyug might fight for this. It takes around 40-45 minutes to reach Varshani from where the trek to Kheerganga starts. So if you are planning a long weekend in the Parvati valley then you can definitely visit this beautiful place. The beauty of this place lies in lying in hot water spring after a trek of 5-6 hours in the lap of Himalayas.
